I always opt out of the scanner and go for the pat down. They always ask me why. Instead of saying I don't trust the federal governments claim that the scanner is safe, I answer, "because I can".

I just went thru tsa with a 2 handed 1 finger salute in the scanner. tsa lady "is there anything that will hurt if I touch you?" me "my Constitutional rights".
