I used to frequent a used-book store that gave away copies of AS. I did drag a few people in, put it in their hands, and push them out the door - most actually read it and talked to me about it. The idea of getting something "for free" hooked them, and the realization that there was a cost - their reason engaged - set the hook. That bookstore no longer exists...

Of course they're paying attention. The so-called narrative is showing up on protestor's signs, such as the one pictured here: http://www.theatlanticcities.com/jobs-an.... It's the classic case of, "it's not working; we need to do more of it!" In this case, the evil business leaders are the banks.
