I lived in south central Alaska in Wasilla. Really intense sometimes. Only heard them once. Several of us did. Soft crackeling. Colors just can't be captured on film.

Well, that is one issue I have found with ALL metal roofing, especially outbuildings with just the regular corrugated metal and screws. Summer does back them out and every winter I have a barrage of leaks all over. I have had no indication of that issue with my house though, but it has the screws under the overlap of each sheet so they should not be exposed to direct rain. About 19 years old now or so, and I took the leftovers and did my deck roof as well, which also has never leaked,

Not meant to scare you. Sounds like yours was done right, just wanted you to be aware if it was Statewide that might have done it. The problem with mine seemed to be that as the roof heated and cooled, expanded and contracted, it would pull the screws loose. Then it would leak in heavy rain as the little gaskets could not provide a good seal anymore. The screws held it down on the high ridges of a metal roof that resembled a sort of Spanish Tile shape. Upon inspection some of the screws completely missed the skip sheathing. I was told it should have been totally sheathed with plywood, then papered and roofed.

Wow, I don't know their name anymore, I am fairly sure it was installed right, as we had to skip sheath it with OSB, then mat it with roofing paper, then put the metal on. We had shake shingles that were rotting, and the roof is a weird only 6" thick thing that was put on top of the beams that are the support. It is a weird house, but we have almost sold it twice and it passed inspection both times.

Who installed it? 14 months ago I moved from Redmond WA, selling my house. Inspection found leaks from 7 year old steel roof, and found it was installed wrong. Company (Statewide) out of business, cost me $30K for new roof to close the sale. Just a warning.

I have heard tales that they make different sounds, but only some people seem to be able to discern them..

Like to see that regulation enforced, like most of them...oops well, we didn't really mean that...

At least my students would finally be forced to not use their phones in class if telecommunications went down, so it's not all bad news.

This big red ball is an uncontrolled global warming do-dah. We have to control it immediately! Time for regulation!

I read the other day that the cheapest and Most effective faraday cage is a metal garbage can with a tight lid...throw in some metal tape for good measure...but your 50" plasma screen TV ain't gona fit! For that or the like, I'd use rabbit cage wire, (1/4" openings) and hope for the best. However...that's assuming your prepared and get advanced notice. The best nasa can do is 1 hour...but good luck with that advanced notice.
I'd suggest everyone watch the morning report at: suspicious0bservers,org and maybe download their disaster prediction app, if you have a dumb phone or one of those youpad thingies. [sar]

Bring it on !!! I've got lots of tin foil. I think I'll put on a steel roof too, just in case.

Yup. As a Ham, I think the equipment is cool, but the premise is pure fiction - not even science fiction.

I lived in Alaska 15 years and saw some wonderful displays that photography just cannot capture. But wait until you hear them! That's right, they crackle when intense enough.

Yes .It blows my mind that this story is sooo contradictory to the IPCC and the whole global warming narrative , geo engineering continues making things worse we are in big trouble . The cognitive dissonance as this unfolds will be dramatic.

Actually...Tin Foil hats would help the unaware. Maybe we should make it a fashion trend so we know who they are!
